Please note this is a guide of what children will be doing in school, there is no requirement for all of these tasks to be completed each day! Timings are just a guide, do what suits you and your child each day.

Practise writing all the letters in the alphabet – are they correctly formed?

Explain to children that this week we are learning all about Frogs, what do they know already?

Read this super fact book all about frogs, click here to read  discuss that it is a fact book, fiction book and other books are stories, non-fiction.

Talk about life cycle of a frog and have a go at ordering the pictures to sequence life cycle, have a go at adding captions to go with the pictures. For pictures of Life Cycle please click here.

Maths

Warm up: How far can you count…

Sing 5 little speckled frogs

Make your own 5 little speckled frog puppets using the template provided, click here or make your own. How many number sentences can you make using the 5 frogs, you can add and subtract i.e 5 – 1 = 4, have a go at writing the sums yourself. Can you make up your own worded problems “there were 4 frogs on the log, 2 jumped off and how many were left?”

Reading

Listen to a story – ask an adult or sibling to read to you or get your own reading book and read to your grown up/siblings or toys 😊

Look out for sight words when reading, here is a list of sight words, these are words children need to memorise and not sound out.

Child Initiated Time

If you like choose one of the activities below or choose your own play, we know how good you all are at playing:

  • Paint or draw your own frog
  • Colour in a frog, how many different shades of green can you use? You might like to invent your own frog, a patterned frog, rainbow frog
  • Go on a hunt for frogs outside or if not make some frogs and hide them around the house and see if your brothers and sisters/parents find them, have fun!
  • Make sure own frog with playdough
  • Can you jump like a frog, how far can you jump, how high can you jump, how long can you jump for?
