Please note this is a guide of what children will be doing in school, there is no requirement for all of these tasks to be completed each day! Timings are just a guide, do what suits you and your child each day.

Learning Timetable

Handwriting practise
Practise writing all the letters in the alphabet – are they correctly formed?

30 minutes

Can you remember what book you read yesterday? What did you learn? Was it a fiction or no fiction book? Today, have a read of ‘Oi Frog’ by Key Gray, explain that it is a fiction book.

What special words are in this book? What are rhyming words? Discuss how normally the end of the word stays the same but the initial part of the word changes. See if your child can remember some of the rhyming words. Have a go at writing words that rhyme with frog. Can you think of words that rhyme with your name, parents’ names, siblings and pets? Tomorrow you will have a go at writing our own rhyming sentences.

Main: Halving group of objects

Can you remember the ur sound? How many ur words can you write? Can you write ur words in a sentence? Watch this to help you

Mrs Deakin-Smith/Miss Newton/Mrs Miles groups:

Recap on ch/sh/th. Get 3 pieces of paper and write the digraphs ch, sh, th on each one, say the following words and children point to the correct digraph. Words; Chip, shap, bath, chin, ship, maths, fish, much, that. Have a go at writing some ch/th/sh words on the pieces of paper.

Child Initiated Time

If you like choose one of the activities below or choose your own play, we know how good you all are at playing:

  • Paint or draw your own frog
  • Colour in a frog, how many different shades of green can you use? You might like to invent your own frog, a patterned frog, rainbow frog
  • Go on a hunt for frogs outside or if not make some frogs and hide them around the house and see if your brothers and sisters/parents find them, have fun!
  • Make sure own frog with playdough
  • Can you jump like a frog, how far can you jump, how high can you jump, how long can you jump for?
