EYFS - May 15th 2020

Please note this is a guide of what children will be doing in school, there is no requirement for all of these tasks to be completed each day! Timings are just a guide, do what suits you and your child each day.

Learning Timetable



10 minutes

Handwriting Practise

Practise writing some sight words ‘and ‘get’ ‘to’ make sure your letters sit on the line, remember to make t and d tall letters, g sits on the line and the tail goes below the line.

30 minutes

Can you remember what books we have been reading this week?

Today you can have a go at making your own frog book, will it be a fact book/non-fiction or a story book, fiction? You may want to draw the pictures and ask someone else to write the words or you may want to be super independent and draw and write it all by yourself.

Have a good chat first to plan your book. It would be wonderful if you could read your book to your family. I hope you share some of your books with us.

Main: Doubles

Can you remember what double means? If you have some dominoes at home sort all the ones which have a double. Have a go at this activity. What is double your age? Maybe double other family members ages!

Crazy Frog song is a firm favourite in Reception, have a dance to the crazy song, you might even like to play musical statues to the song, sorry parents! 😊

Listen to a story – ask an adult or sibling to read to you or get your own reading book and read to your grown up/siblings or toys 😊

Look out for sight words when reading, here is a list of sight words, these are words children need to memorise and not sound out.

Child Initiated Time

If you like choose one of the activities below or choose your own play, we know how good you all are at playing:

  • Paint or draw your own frog
  • Colour in a frog, how many different shades of green can you use? You might like to invent your own frog, a patterned frog, rainbow frog
  • Go on a hunt for frogs outside or if not make some frogs and hide them around the house and see if your brothers and sisters/parents find them, have fun!
  • Make your own frog with playdough
  • Can you jump like a frog, how far can you jump, how high can you jump, how long can you jump for?

Story Time!

Miss Wright is reading ‘Tadpoles Promise’ be prepared for an unusual ending to the story.
