Lightwoods Schools Direct is located in Sandwell, West Midlands and we are looking to recruit graduates on our Schools Direct Programme for September 2020 in both primary and secondary.
Schools Direct is an excellent route into teaching. We work in partnership with Newman University and local primary and secondary schools across Sandwell and the Black Country to deliver high-quality teacher training based on in-depth experience in the classroom. In addition, you will receive a professional studies programme to support your academic development.

Applicants must have:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths and Science – grade 4 or above.
- A good honours degree (or recognised equivalent), preferably BA or BSc 2:1 or above in one of the core subjects or Early Years.
- Sound knowledge of Foundation stage/Key Stage 1/Key Stage 2.
- Experience in school – class-based primary or secondary.

On successful completion of the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Programme, Schools Direct trainees will be awarded a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
The cost of undertaking the programme is £9,000. Once students have accepted a place, they can make applications for tuition fees through Student Finance, England to cover the cost of their training.
