Spelling Practice

Summer term week 4 - words ending in aw /au

This week we are going to be looking at a traditional Fairy Tale, The Princess and the Frog.

Or log on to OxfordOwl to read the story here (you will need to create a free login if you haven’t already done so).

Task: Write a character description. What do they look like? Use the adjectives you listed yesterday to help you. If you need a re-cap here about adjectives. Make sure you use capital letters and full stops. Watch the Hip Hop Gran to remind you about them.

E.g. The beautiful princess had long, golden hair and sparkly, blue eyes. She wore a dazzling dress and a tiny crown.

We have also created an additional list for writing ideas.

Phonics

Read phase 2, phase 3 and phase 5 sounds.

Pick a sound from phase 3 or 5. Make a list of as many words as you can with that sound in. Can you write 3 sentences using words that contain your sound.

Seaside holidays now and then: PowerPoint and read History of the Seaside.

Have a look at the  PowerPoint to see what things haven’t changed since the Victorians went on holiday.

  • Task: Now you know what the seaside was like 100 years ago in Victorian times. Draw and label a picture of what it was like to go on a Victorian seaside holiday. Write some sentences about what you did on holiday. Use the photographs to help you.
