Please note this is a guide of what children will be doing in school, there is no requirement for all of these tasks to be completed each day! Timings are just a guide, do what suits you and your child each day.

Then read the uploaded extract from the story.

  • Task: Read and Respond– How do you think Carla is feeling? Why are the other children laughing her? If you were sat next to Carla, what would you say to the other children who are teasing her?

Hopefully you have completed your sandwich design from earlier this week and have made and taste tested your sandwich too!

Activity: Can you write a set of instructions for someone else to follow (Use words like you, your)? See the uploaded template.

  1. Don’t forget to include what they will need,  for example, a plate, knife, bread, other ingredients.
  2. For the main instructions, make sure you use time conjunctions (time words) like First, Next, Then, After that, When that’s done, Finally.
  3. Use bossy verbs like cut, grate, spread, chop, sprinkle.
  4. Add detail, for example, instead of ‘First you spread butter onto two slices of bread.’ try

‘First you spread butter onto two slices of bread.’

Don’t forget to name your masterpiece sandwich!

Lunch Break

Phonics

Read phase 2, phase 3 and phase 5 sounds.

Pick a sound from phase 3 or 5. Make a list of as many words as you can with that sound in. Can you write 3 sentences using words that contain your sound.
