  • Activity: What else would you put in your magic box? Write/draw/collect 3 new items that you would put in your magic box and add the next verse to your magic box poem.

In my magic box I will put,

A crumbling, crunching corner of the richest chocolate in town,

The chatter of a monkey as it swings through the treetops above my head,

The thick, gloopy mud that gets your wellies stuck.

In my magic box I will put,

A sip of sugary lemonade on a sweaty summers’ day,

Some crisp, crunchy Autumn leaves rustling underfoot,

Seven singing sopranos.

White Rose Maths have stopped their free online worksheets. You can still access the videos for free. If you would like to carry on with those, click here.

Alternatively, The Oak National Academy are providing free online learning videos, quizzes and activities. I have chosen lessons which cover aspects of the Year 2 curriculum we know the children need to recap. Click here to take you to the lesson on making predictions about rotation. You will need a pen and paper/book to complete this lesson.

Fun extras – Collect a teddy and with your grown up play a game. Close your eyes and get your grown up to turn your teddy. Open your eyes and predict what type of turn they did. Once you have guessed let them show you how they did it. Were you correct? Swap over so this time you turn the teddy whilst your grown up closes their eyes.

Often when you go on holiday you write a diary so you can remember all of the fun you had.

Pretend you are either at Edgmond Hall or at your favourite holiday destination and write a diary entry. Can you include commas in a list in your diary?

Here are some ideas for how to include commas in a list in your writing:

  • List the friends you played with,
  • List the activities you did that day,
  • List the things you packed in your backpack,
  • List the things you ate/drank,

List some things that you saw/smelt/heard/felt.

  • Which is the most popular place?
  • Which is the least popular place?
  • Do any places have the same number of food items?
