Continuing with our unit about ‘Amazing Aliens’

Today we are going to be recapping the 5Ws (or 5 bums on a rugby post!) which we learnt about in Autumn term - who, what, where, when, why

  • Have a go at writing your own 5W paragraph about the Alien’s mischief!
  • If you can, have a look at some real-life newspaper articles to see if you can identify the 5Ws

Reading – comprehension

  • Today is the 200th birthday of Florence Nightingale. Many of you will have learnt about Florence earlier on in school and the new Nightingale hospitals were named after her.

Inside the PDF document, there are three separate texts and questions about Florence Nightingale. Choose the 1-, 2- or 3-star text and answer the accompanying questions.

Today we are going to look at grid references – which are a little bit like co-ordinates in maths!

Follow the PowerPoint to learn about 4-figure grid references. Remember the terms eastings and northings. The grid reference will lead you to the bottom left corner of the square.

Choose the 1-, 2- or 3-star map and activity. Use the grid references to crack the code!
