  • Activity:  Write one fact you have found out, one question you are wondering about and one thing you can infer from the text.
Use the Reading Activity sheet provided to record today’s learning and for the rest of the week!

Fluent in Five starter.

Answer these five questions, based around column addition and subtraction.

  1. 4278 + 3967 =
  2. 7983 + 3089 =
  3. 9576 – 4115 =
  4. 7405 – 1234 =

Spelling test/practise

Ask an adult to test you on your spellings from last week! How many out of 10 did you get?

Spellings: Adding the prefix auto- (meaning ‘self’)

autograph, autobiography, automatic, autofocus, autocorrect, autopilot, autopsy, automobile, autonomy, autocue

  • Use a dictionary to find out the meaning of these words. Choose three of the words and try and use these in a sentence.
  • Follow the instructions on the ‘Prefix Slider’ activity to create a tool to help you learn your spellings this week.

This week, we are starting a new unit of writing called ‘Amazing Aliens

  • Read the example text at the beginning of the Amazing Aliens booklet (pages 2 & 3)
  • Look at pages 4 and 5 which discuss vocabulary.
  • Complete the activity on page 5 where you need to create your own alien words!
